Creating $PRP and $PRPSHEET Links in SolidWorks Use the SolidWorks Information Summary dialog box to create properties linked to drawings and Enterprise PDM data cards. In fact, it's $PRP without the SHEET that you have to write, it seems to me, if the property is on the 2D and not on the 3D. But if there is no view inserted into a plan, PRPSHEET will not indicate anything.

If the appropriate document for custom properties cannot be located, the following rules apply:
In Edit mode, all background notes are empty. All sheet and drawing view notes have their property names displayed.
In Edit Baseplane mode, all baseplane notes have their property names displayed.

Start by looking (on your 3D) in File/Properties to see if you see this property in the "Customize" or "Configuration Specific" tab. This will already be a start!
If the "designation" property is not seen there in one of the tabs (or even both), it means that the property editor you are showing is incorrectly configured.
