What Is the Difference Between Smooth Base and Boundary Base Boss

Hello

I have a little question, I'm updating my solidworks course, and I came across a new function that doesn't exist in the 2008 version

and so I'm perplexed because I can't get the difference between the 2 following functions

Boss/ Smooth base

Bossage/ Base Border

Will anyone be able to enlighten me on this?

I'm attaching a screen that I made on 2 parts that have both identical sketches, and using the 2 functions I get the same result :x

Thank you in advance for your help and your answers

Hello

A priori none except that one is used in volume and the other in surface. (if I understood correctly, one of the two doesn't need a closed outline to work).

See  the links:

I hope I helped you.

Hello

The Smoothed and Boundary functions are available in both surface and volume!

The Smoothed function allows you to create volumes or surfaces from multiple sections, and the Boundary function allows you to create volumes or surfaces from multiple sections and several direction paths!

Basically, the border is a great Scan function....

In addition, it is possible to control the junctions with adjacent faces!

I hope I've been clear enough, otherwise I can give you an example!

hi

yes a small example will help me, it will allow me to see how its function :)

because as you can see in my example I didn't manage to do  :x

(I understood the difference between the 2 but I'm just missing an example:) )

Thank you in advance:)

Hello

So here's an image!

On the left, the Smoothed function obtained with only two sketches (upper and lower) the function is obtained by sweeping a line between the two.

On the right, the Border function obtained with the same two sketches (upper and lower) in direction 1 and 4 other sketches (lines, arc, etc.) in direction 2 to define the link between the two previous sketches!
