What are the main steps to follow when upgrading to SolidWorks + PDM?

Hello

Could someone summarize the main steps to be followed for the 2022 upgrade of SolidWorks and especially the PDM?

I get lost between PDMServer and PDMClient, backup of the archive vault, database, ...

Thanks in advance!

Hello

I think the safest way is not to do anything stupid and to see directly with your dealer, or by opening a ticket with the hotline.

Hello @Charley

You will find on the Visiativ website many tips concerning the integration + evolution of SOLIDWORKS PDM:

Otherwise, as @dominique.naudet suggests, contact your technical support so that they can set up the changes for you!

Have a nice day!

Hello

There are quite a few steps and the best is to get help from your dealer (to avoid not being able to work because of poorly done updates).

Wholesale:

- Archiving of all extracted files

-disconnect the base and lock the epdm servers (to prevent someone from still being on it when updating)

-update of EPDM servers with the new version

-update of all workstations (SW + EPDM client ). Going through an admin installation is convenient if you have more than 4 or 5 workstations (allows you to put the same settings on all the machines and to be able to put the right license number on each machine). "Returning" licenses before the update may be safer but not necessarily essential.

- unlocking servers

-use of batch conversion tools if you want to update your files to the new version (avoids editing revisions by hand just to save to the latest version). This tool was completely buggy in 2020 SP3.0 (so go for Sp5.0 or 5.1 versions instead).

NB: I do not guarantee the completeness of the above

Thank you all for your answers.

I will add to this that you must also update add-ins such as myPDMTools, PDM Gateway, Workflow Tab, etc. otherwise they may not work properly or simply not be active when using certain tasks within PDM.

I'll close my question, thank you again for your answers.
