Hello
To save a template file:
File ==> Save As
Choose model from the type:
- Room model, drawing model etc...
For the destination file, it's up to you. I prefer to have a separate folder from the solidworks installation folder, it avoids deleting it unfortunately in case of reinstallation or update of solidworks.
+1 (yes once again)
Make a separate folder for your own models, so that in case of a change of PC or other, you can easily recover your model files.
By default I name the important folders 0-Folder name, to have the folders at the top of the tree all the time. (personal choice) It prevents it from drowning in customer files.
So for example for parts I have a folder 0-Basic models
we find all generic parts in .xxxDOT
Valid for all models, profile, drawing, parts, bookcase.....
On the other hand, for it to work when you use the new function, you have to go to the options / File locations / Document templates and add your folder to the list.
Personally I remove the default folders from SW, I don't need them.
