Hello
I recently changed the Windows version of my PC (W7 -> W10) and since then every time I want to open a part or assembly from my EPDM box, it doesn't open a new window with this part, but it launches a new Solidworks, with the small window that shows the loading of the add-ons.
It's quite annoying because it takes time and resources for nothing and it complicates the navigation from one part/assembly to another since they are not part of the same Solidworks.
Someone would have a solution to force them to open the parts in the Solidworks that is already open, which is normal.
Thank you
Hello
Strange.
Try dragging your part (or asm) into the SW window that is already open. OR to go and get your parts via the SW explorer already open (File>open>...)
A priori it's not more restrictive.
If I drag and drop or open a file> it works normally, but I still work with my Windows Explorer on the other screen with EPDM on it to search for my items more easily.
And when I want to create something from my EPDM window (right click>new CAD document>...) it does the same to me
It's not blocking, but I find it very annoying, when I have an assembly open and I want to open a part next to it to check it before inserting it into my assembly, well it opens another Solidworks so when I go back to my assembly and I want to add my part, It does not appear in the quick menu of open items, for example.
It's little things like that that I'm used to that don't work anymore because of this problem in addition to consuming more resources since it opens a new complete Solidworks by loading all the add-ins each time it is opened.
I understand that it must be laxative your story haha.
Since there has been a change of version, maybe you have problems associating your files and applications at first. I don't really know afterwards... To see if anyone else knows the problem, see the solution....
Strength to you.
Hello
Look at what is the default program that is used by Windows for Solidworks files, this one should be "Solidworks Launcher", see HERE (from step 2) for more information.
Kind regards
