Temperamental Realview

Hello to all those who will read this question,

I was previously working on SW2020 with Realview graphics active, rendered flawless. But I recently had to go back to the 2018 version. And there, I realized that despite the fact that Realview is active, what is displayed on the screen is not. Realview appears to be active for SW, but does not display at all. It's as if they weren't activated.

Obviously, my graphics card is certified (Quadro P600, ZBook from HP listed by SW).

Does anyone have any idea of the solution? I have searched in vain almost everywhere, but obviously my case is rare.

Thanks in advance,

Sincerely,

Hello @baptiste.beulque

When you changed the version from the 2020 to the 2018 (which is rather rare in that sense ;-)     ) did you uninstall the 2020 cleanly.

You can check in Tools ==> Add-ons        that photoview is well loaded (possibly that the choice "launch at startup" is checked.

Or so! Do you have both versions on the same workstation!

I suspect that the RealView version may not be quite the same in both versions, which would possibly explain your problems, if you haven't done a complete and clean installation.

I don't think it's coming from the graphics card since it worked very well with the 2020.

Our eminent colleagues who are specialists in the BDR may give you the means to check a few points.

Kind regards

Good evening @Zozo_mp

First of all, thank you for your answer. To clearly answer your suggestions:

- I made the cleanest version change possible (complete uninstallation of SW2020, reboot, registry cleanup, reboot, installation of SW2018)

- Stems from this remark the fact that only one SW installation is present on my machine

- Regarding Photoview 360, it is active and launched when SW starts

What do you advise me?

Sincerely,

Hello

Have you tried to install the patch recommended by Solidworks to optimize the performance of graphics cards (see HERE), here is what we can read in the release notes of this patch: "SOLIDWORKS 2018 graphics support includes the following cards that can take advantage of performance and other salient features, such as Order Independent Transparency and RealView".

Kind regards

Good evening

Yes, I saw this fix, installed it, but the problem remains the same.

Sincerely,

Your settings are identical to those you had on SW2020, especially for the complex assembly mode because RealView is not available in this complex assembly mode.

If that's a question, yes my settings are identical to those of SW2020 and the problem arises from the part creation workshop, not particularly in the assembly mode. Also, I didn't turn on the complex stitching mode.

Sincerely,

Yes, it was a question (small omission of the question mark) ...

Last idea, check that the "Emulate OpenGL functions" box is unchecked in the SW options:

I just checked, the "Emulate OpenGL functions" box was disabled...

The problem remains the same. Do you have an idea?

Hello

It seems to me that Solidworks' recommendations for graphics drivers are the same between SW2020 and SW2018 but a little Solidworks RX may be able to tell you more.

Kind regards

I just checked at the level of Rx, and indeed everything seems to be in order, it's a mystery...

Sincerely,

Hello;

Have you tried to change the scene of your assembly?
Also check if the lighting points (spots) are not deactivated (or on the contrary too many...)

Kind regards.

Hello

As stated in one of my previous answers, the problem arises in the part workshop and in the assembly workshop. Also, I never changed the lighting settings. The problem arises with the default settings of SW itself.

Despite your advice, the problem remains.

Sincerely,

Hello

It is not SW's version that is the cause.

It's related to the update of the video card. Try to revert to a previous version of the drivers. For some, it works. You have updated the video driver or probably it is done automatically. Then prevent the auto update.

Good evening

Indeed, the problem was related to the version of the graphics card driver. I found the cause by the appearance of a parallel problem with the display (poor refresh rate by two screens linked to a docking station on this PC). Here's the procedure I followed to fix the problem:

1. Uninstalling graphics drivers via Device Manager

2. Restarting the machine

3. Installing the autopilots (for me it happened directly in Windows Update but we could have chosen to install the drivers manually)

4. Reboot

The problem disappeared after that, and RealView is now clearly visible on SW charts.

Hoping that it can be useful to others.

Hello @baptiste.beulque

Don't worry, I suddenly have the same problem as roofing without doing anything but working.

I smell a link with Windows and their damn very frequent and opaque automatic updates. In my case the simple update of the Drivers solved the PB instantly as suggested @soring

Kind regards

Hello @Zozo_mp

Indeed I claimed victory a little too early, the problem reappeared this morning, without doing anything like you.

But overall it's still related to the graphics driver... The performance of their updates remains random, but so be it!

Sincerely,

Hello @d.roger

Damned!

Realview doesn't work for me anymore either, even though it worked not so long ago.

I wanted to apply a fix recommended by Solidworks to optimize the performance of graphics cards: but  how to make the .msi run because windows freezes me.

I guess I have to go into Admin mode but I don't remember how to do it since I have to do this once all the Bishop deaths.

How to activate the Thank You .MSI

Kind regards
