How do I search for a component in Traceparts on the site? Do I have to go through the window to the right of the house icon?

A priori on Lynkoa, there is no research.

So I made a request for improvement on Lynkoa, you can find it here:

Otherwise, on Lynkoa, you have to choose a manufacturer from the list where it is written "All/All" on the left, then browse by type to find its reference...

 

So, yes, the best thing to do is to go directly to the http://www.tracepartsonline.net/ website and then do a search.

Edit: 

I just tested, and to answer your question, yes from Lynkoa, you can use the general search bar that appears on all pages, at the top.

On the other hand, the search is not really perfect, because the engine does not search for all the terms together, but each of the terms one by one...
