Retrieving and modifying a step file on Solidworks

Bjr,

I have to modify a STEP file of an assembly (injection mold) of several parts and components. The main modification is a symmetry by the median plane of the entire assembly. Is it possible to modify parts from a step on Solidworks? A priori the software does not recognize the parts with "coherent" functions, the parts are not constrained between them, in short there is no sketch and exploitable function.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Once the step file is opened with solidworks, you can save it in .sldasm format. You can use the SW featureworks option for each part to find the build tree, but the constraints will never reappear in the assembly.

However, symmetry is possible without recreating the building trees of the parts. Just constrain all the parts and make a plan or two  :-)

Kind regards
