File renaming

Hi all 

 

I would like to know if there is a solution to rename the files in SW while keeping the relationships between the different files (CAD->Drawing...).

 

I sometimes rename files but it's always complicated to repoint the linked files to the renamed files.

 

If you ever have a simple and effective solution, I'm all for it!

Hello

 

I developed a macro that is available for free on Lynkoa:

It allows you to save under a 3D + plan set by keeping the links between the 2 and updating the properties and therefore the title block with a code and a label.

 

There may be some small changes to be made, but I have commented on all the lines of code to simplify the work!

If you have SolidWorks alone: File/Composition to go.

 

It allows you to make copies of trees by renaming the files, forwarding the links to drawing, simulation, assemblies,...

 

You can change the names one by one or give rules by the "Select/Replace" button.

 

Very, very practical and quite simple tool...

 

If you have EPDM, you have to go through Tools/Copy tree

This is why you want to rename your files

If you rename a file it will no longer be the same in the sense of computer reference and link

The files (among other things, assembly, drawing) will no longer find their little ones?

unless you reintegrate the said files so redo

Hello

 

To rename and keep the links, you must use SolidWorks Explorer or PDMWorks Enterprise.

Hi all

 

As far as I'm concerned, I only have solidworks (without PDM), and I also commonly use Solidworks Explorer to rename or move files. The linked files are searched by this explorer and automatically the links are updated.

Hello

 

A new tool from the myCAD suite will soon be released 'ProjectExplorer'

it allows the user to naturally rename/organize SW documents from the explorer

He is in charge of forwarding external references.

SOLIDWORKS Explorer is replaced by SOLIDWORKS File Utilities, which allows you to rename, replace, copy, and move SOLIDWORKS files while retaining file references.
