Rename a multitude of files

Hello, I have to rename a multitude of SLDPRT, SLDASM and SLDDRW files or the root one changes, is there a way to rename these files without doing them one by one

Thank you have a good day

There are software such as ant renamer that allows you to do mass renaming of files or directories. I'll let you take a look: http://www.antp.be/software/renamer/fr

The problem with a mass renaming via ant renamer (or other) is that the SW links will be lost.

I will rather go through a composition to take away by including the drawings.

I know the shit as a unit of measurement (that's 11) but how many are the multitude?

Hello

Alain.ERP talked about using SolidWorks Explorer to do this in one of these tutorials!

I have 1330 Files to rename

Good luck

you have the holidays for that ;-)

SW Explorer allows you to rename some files. For this quantity, where I imagine that there are only a few master assemblies, the composition to take away is the tool.

It allows you to add a prefix, to make string replacements, etc. on the whole tree of an assembly.

What is the purpose of a complete project to be renamed or parts scattered in several assemblies.

If it's a complete project there is the take-away composition which can rename en masse with the rules to apply otherwise if you have the mycadservice tools there is Project manager which is ideal.

If the files are in different assemblies it's much more complicated!

Hi Christophe

Only solidworks explorer allows you to rename/move a file and to keep the consistency of dependencies with assemblies or drawings, but not to rename.

Stefbeno is right makes a compos to take away and then with SLDW Explorer replaces them in the previous assembly

Hello

No PDM or EPDM?

Tubas the myCADtools tools?

Otherwise, it's possible with a Solidworks macro, do you know VBA programming?

Ah, I've got better! A new MyCadTools utility from 2016:

ProjectExplorer allows you to restructure a project directly from Windows Explorer (unlike SOLIDWORKS Explorer) without losing SOLIDWORKS links between documents. Key features

- Scan files in the folder before action

- Move files from a SOLIDWORKS project from Windows Explorer while keeping references

- Move folders

- Rename folders

- Rename files by managing references

- Bulk renaming files using custom naming rules

Instant view of updated references

Project Explorer is surely the replacement for project manager which also allows mass moving, copying and renaming...

Otherwise, there wasn't a macro that did this, it seems to me?

Someone had proposed it on Lynkoa about a year ago.
