Spring with sheet metal workshop

Hello

I still have a small spring problem and therefore another small question, especially for sheet metal experts.

Is it possible to make this spring from a flat setting? If so, could you explain to me the necessary method please?

See pictures & step attached (dimensions are in inches originally).

Thank you in advance.

Alex

I think it can be done in a straight line

then you will have to make a deform but your circle will be open

It's up to you to do your length development

create a crease at the desired radius and angle

Make your cuts

and after a deformation via your basic sketch and an unclosed circle sketch

Thanks Gt22, but I don't have a lot of experience in sheet metal work, wouldn't you have a semblance of an identical part to see what are the functions you would use?

When you say deform, is it an available function or a state of the part?

Is it possible to combine the "Sketched Fold" and "Brushed Folded Sheet" functions?

Hi a.leblanc,

See if it can help you.

You replace the sketch with the profile of your spring and do one or two material removals and then a circular repetition and it should work.

AC Cobra 427, yes I've already tried, but I'd like to make the grooves since the flat and then deform it

Finally, I use a 3D sketch for the grooves and the bending function to have a circular part. It's heavy, but I made a part that is easily configurable from the custom properties pane, you just have to be patient and it's occasional.
