PDM Server: Is it possible to use a single pdm server for Topsolid and Solidworks?

Hello

I am not a user of CAD solutions.

I am a computer scientist and I have to install the software and in this case, I am thinking about installing a PDM server for Topsolid.

My question is: since we have two types of software (Solidworks and Topsolid), I wanted to know if it was possible on the same machine to install a PDm server with a base for TopSolid and a base for Solidworks.

Has anyone ever done this?

Thank you.

Hello

I have already worked on a PDM that managed 2 different CAD software. There were just 2 buttons that appeared on the PDM (one for Catia, the other for NX).

It wasn't a problem as long as a part that was started with a software was always modified with it.

I think it depends a lot on the PDM you use

Hello

Thank you for your answer.

If I understand correctly, you had only one PDM software installed and both software used this one?

Which Catia or NX software is the PDM installed?

Yes, that's right.

The PDM was provided by Siemens (NX) but is not integrated into NX. So you can take it to manage other software.

Which version of topsolid are you using?

TopSolid 7 has a built-in PDM and the software handles solidworks well. If you do have version 7, you may be able to get closer to them to see if you can record directly on it.

Hello again,

Thank you again for this answer.

Yes, we have version 7 (we installed 7.11 in June)  and we have a license for the TopSolid PDM.

I'm going to contact them and see what they tell me.

If I have any other questions, I might get back to you.

Thank you again.

Good night
