I would like to calculate the stresses in an IPE beam subjected to a torsional moment in the axis of its neutral fiber.
Beam data: Total lg 1500mm recess on each side.
Torsional moment located at 500mm from a recess and intensity: 3420 Nm.
I can't find a torsional inertia modulus for an IPE of 140, and I'm not sure that the formula Constraint=(Moment/modulus of inertia) is viable considering that it's not a circular section.
I managed to make the model under simulation, but I'm not sure of the results: 2718 MPa !! .
On such a simple part, the volume calculation can be interesting since the calculation time is negligible. This allows, among other things, to model the embedding much more precisely (same for the point of application of the force).
Attached is the study for a 5x10 section beam S section Ansi (one of the basic beams of SW h=127)
The stress obtained is 740Mpa
Your modeling therefore seems wrong (maybe the choice of material or the application of the moment on the beam)
