[SolidWorks 2017] Projecting the Outline of an Assembly on a Plane

Hi all

As indicated in the title, I would like to project the outline of a large assembly on an offset plane.
I know that it is possible to do it for a part or a single element, but for an assembly I have not found.

Thank you in advance.

Mickaël K.

Hello Mickael,

I tried to do this the other day and I did it like this:

- I created a plane in my assembly that went through most of my contours.

- I have created a sketch on this new plan. I selected all my contour surfaces by clicking on "intersection contours". It gave me my contours.

- I then created the 2nd offset shot and projected all my first sketch into a second one created on this second plane...

I hope I was clear... and that it will work for you

Hi, thank you for your answer!

Everything is very clear, I had tried it this way: it's good on a large element or together, it works perfectly. I had also done a test with a combination of all the bodies and made a kind of "cut", which gave me a face to project on my offset plane.

On the other hand, if we take the example of a mechanically welded chassis, with slightly bizarre shapes... You end up with a multitude of shots to find the different contours.

I'm going to keep looking everywhere...

Thank you again:)

Hello

Could you put a screen print so we can see what you need?
