Solidworks on Windows Surface, have you tested? Any opinions? Any advice?

Hello to you,

We wonder if we are going to invest in a Windows Surface tablet for commercial use above all (presentation to customers, at trade shows...), but does Solidworks work properly on it? Have you tested? Do you have any advice for us?

Thank you

Hello

Not tested, but the presentation of Solidworks 2018 shows an evolution in the touch use of Solidworks. Depending on your contract, you may be able to ask your sales rep for a demo to give you an opinion on usage.

Tested on Surface Pro, Windows 10, with solidworks 2018, top for a commercial presentation (zoom, rotation, opening parts/plane, hide/show, cut etc...). After that, if it's for drawing, it's a little heavier than with the mouse/keyboard...

Hoping I helped you...

Hello, I did some tests and to draw I advise: Surface Pro - Intel Core i7 / 1 TB SSD / 16 GB RAM but 3990€

For commercial presentation the i5 is enough for edrawing which remains in the 1000€

Fully agree with everything that has been said

I would say in +

A 12 inch screen which is the + big screen is really small for drawing

on the other hand to visualize the parts, assembly, plan it's very nice

this is in my opinion the type of tool that will allow you to delete 2D plans

operators will have the parts and assembly direct in 3D

side and details to their liking I think ;-)

Ideal for sales reps

Thank you for these different opinions.

Hard to find the "answer that solved my problem";)

@gt22 I'm not in favour of the disappearance of 2D plans, which would be the disappearance of our profession as draftsmen...

The price is not 3990€ but 3099. Which is already huge for a tablet.

@jr_1 to use the well-founded remarks of gt22 the size of the surface humanly limits the drawing, but placed on a replicator and connected to a 4K screen with keyboard and mouse it is a machine that amazed me.
