To represent the cord by SW tools (at least in SW13), the 2 faces must be joined. In your case, it's not possible. The solution remains to cheat, especially by drawing the cord yourself.

In real life, yes!

In solidworks, a weld seam can only be put between 2 bodies:(

In 3 days, i.e. Monday, October 13th, SW2015 SP0 will be released in which it will be possible to create a weld seam on a single body (example: tube).
