Using the drilling wizard I make a hole by specifying an H7 fit with the drop-down menu.
it seemed to me that when I dimension it in its drawing the H7 should appear automatically, this is not the case either, even with the "model object" dimension and symbol for the drilling. We can't find out why it doesn't work anymore! Anyone have a lead?
It's still curious since H7 is H7. Here the values have been known since I was a little kid and it's not the tolerance interval that changes anything: since the IT (5 to 13) are also known and are subject to standards.
The machinist doesn't care if it's F6 or G6 when he does the bore it has to be within the tolerance shown on the plan and that's it.
If you have an explanation @d.roger on the fact that you have to indicate the value of the fit (tight or other) I'm all for it. I may have missed something.
I agree with you, H7 is H7 and it's been for very very very ... long.
In my opinion it's due either to a bug or to a misunderstanding of the term "Centering holes". For my part, I don't even see the need to differentiate the adjustment into 4 sub-parts (Nominal, With Clearance, Adjusted and Tight) because, whatever the choice made, it is the value of the adjustment that counts.
This may be useful for another SW tool such as bore control.
I'm thinking here of the EXpert DIM tool in assemblies and in particular MDB which allows you to automatically couple the tolerance to automatically annotate one of the two components of the assembly. Ditto for Tool analysis, which is supposed to guarantee that valid tolerance data is obtained, TolAnalyst uses a helper interface that offers a special procedure for these purposes.
Note that I have never tried these features because I don't see the point of them, it's probably in case a shaft is not tolerated while the bore is. A fixer of oversights in a way but hey! Maybe it's my drawback or there was no assistance and the necessary rigor in the quotations.
This is probably valid for large assemblies to check that certain tolerances have not been forgotten but is it the method and quality control department of the BE. Maybe @ F.Legendre will tell us more ;-)
