Sheet metal cabinet

Hello

I am looking to recreate the outer folded sheet metal below in the shape of a box.

I have proceeded as follows for the moment:

However, I can't manage to extend my two sides as in the photos in a clean way to unfold it.

Should we proceed differently ? Starting from the unfolded and making my folds? (Already tested but without success)

Thanks in advance

Hello

To make this part I do it the old way (when the bent sheets on the edge did not exist)

I use "sketched folds" with the sketches that go well.

I did it in 10 minutes, the fittings and nibbles are ugly, but that's the principle you can remember.

I'm in SW 2021 I can pass you the file

The mistake in my opinion is to want to do everything with "sheet metal bent on edge"

Kind regards

Kind regards

Hello

We often make these kinds of parts.

Personally, I use the "sheet metal with folded edges" function, it's fast and SW does "everything" the work. It remains to be seen what finish you want on your part, we guys in the workshop are very good at making junction welds "disappear".

I didn't do it on this example but for the rounded corners you will have to go through a removal of material, the leave will not work.

Kind regards.

Good evening @a.eriaud

Quick question: Can with this "folded edge sheet" method, you can have wings that are not the same size. As in the model posted by the applicant and where you can see the welds too well, there are the side wings which are not the same size as the others.

Can you post your file so that I can educate myself ;-)

Kind regards

  Hello @Zozo_mp ,

Yes, it is quite possible with a simple addition of material.

I post my example file, it is in 2022 version.

Have a nice day.
