Normally, the compatibility of a topsolid with a new top solid is not a problem. On the other hand with the other software it's something else because Solid Works doesn't recognize the Top Solid
V7 is very unstable and recovery is difficult according to them. After I only used V6 but I am very far from thinking good of this software .... And according to my colleagues, the V7 is worse.
After all it's a matter of habit and software preference, that they maybe test the V7 with a demo license if possible before making a permanent transfer, that's what I would advise.
- There is a gateway to V6 in order to recover data in bulk, it is mandatory because topsolid 7 works with a pdm
-Stability level on the seven there is nothing to say, it has been proven and very widely debugged
-V7 recovers directly from the solidworks (assembly as part), it rebuilds the assembly structures (sub-assembly etc.), recovers the configurations, retrieves the component names, design color. What is not recovered is the design tree (normal we change software) but it is possible to rebuild it via functions like freeshape.
To work with solidworks, the best solution is parasolid because it is the common core between Topsolid and Solidworks.
Regarding the migration, the old V6 addicts will feel a little unsettled in V7 because V6 has a philosophy of its own. On the other hand, Solidworks users switching to V7 will get the hang of it very very quickly
