Transferring Libraries from Solidworks to Inventor

Hello

As part of a software change in my company, I would like to know if it is possible to transfer complete libraries to Solidworks and import them to Inventor (with if possible as little rework as possible so that it runs more smoothly)

I think it's not going to be very simple and quick

if you have to convert everything 1/1 each file

I think you're not done

Unfortunately yes, I have to find the libraries used on Solidworks to migrate them or integrate them into the still blank libraries of Inventor. Only problem, I don't know and I found tutorials but only for the migration of data from inventor to inventor :-/

Is there a known way or is it not possible?

Importing Files from Other CAD Systems - Selection Tab

Select the files to import from CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, Pro-E/Creo, Alias, Step, Iges, and Rhino.

  1. To selectively import to a file, do one of the following :
    • To import data into a new file, select :
      •   Open  Import CAD Formats
      • Getting Started  Feature Group tab Launch  Import CAD Formats
    • To import to a part file, select :
      • The Manage  Insert  Import Feature Group tab
      • the 3D  Model tab, the Create  Import function group
    • To import to an assembly, click the Assemble  Insert Imported CAD Component  feature group tab.
  2. In the applicable dialog box, set the file types to display the available files.
  3. Select the file you want to import and click Open, and then click the Selection tab.
  4. Select Load Model to load the model in the graphics window.
  5. Click the round status icon to change the state of the associated object.

Thanks GT22, but it's the solution for parts it seems to me, I'm mainly looking to implement the databases (library for example) that I use on Solidworks to find them in Inventor without having to recreate them all one by one.

Place components from another CAD system

  1. On the ribbon, click the Assemble   Place Component  feature group tab to select the component you want to place.
  2. In the Open dialog box, select the file type for the component. If you have Vault installed and you put a file in the vault, you can use another method. Click Open from Vault under Quick Launch to immediately access the files in the vault.
  3. Find and select the file you are interested in.
  4. Click Options and configure the options for the selected file type.
  5. When you click Open, the selected component is placed in the graphics window, attached to the cursor.
  6. Right-click before placing a component to adjust the X, Y, and Z orientation , or to select Place Originally Blocked Component.
  7. Click in the graphics window to place an instance of the component.
  8. If necessary, continue to click to place additional occurrences.
  9. Once all instances are placed, right-click and choose OK.

Note: By default, Autodesk Inventor applies the part name (file name of the inserted part) to browser file nodes. Other CAD systems enforce the part number property. When you import a STEP file into Autodesk Inventor, its name may differ from the name in the CAD system that generated it. To avoid confusion, run the Rename Browser Nodes command to specify the naming scheme that applies to the browser nodes.

See the Bundle Tools topic for more information about the Rename Browser Nodes command.

An Autodesk Inventor set recognizes components created in other CAD systems. You can import Pro/ENGINEER, Parasolid, SolidWorks, UGS-NX, STEP, SAT, and IGES files and place the parts or assemblies as components. The ability to modify imported parts or assemblies depends on the format of the original file (see Accessing Files from Other CAD Systems).

Hello

I don't know if it works, but you could use the Solidworks Task Scheduler to export your files in neutral format if there is something identical on inventor to convert them to an .ipt  or .iam file.

After a few reads in the Inventor Help

It is possible to migrate complete libraries via extension .csv

It is also possible to create BIM files with SW

This is BIM files that can be used in Inventor

It is also possible according to my readings to place components from another CAD system

so you should be able to take your library pieces and place them in your project

not better for the moment sorry ;-(
