2014 License Server Transfer

Hello

We have a floating license server installation on a workstation.

We change this workstation and install a new workstation, i.e. two licenses used simultaneously.

What are the operations for

1) Transfer the license server to a "real" server and no longer a workstation

2) Install both full licenses and a floating license?

As the IT worker is on site, we need a very quick response.

Thank you in advance for your kind answer.

Mr. Garcia

Hello

If English is not a problem, here is the procedure:

There are 4 main steps to moving to a new license server:

  1. 1. Install SolidNetWork License Manager on a new server
  2. 2. Point clients to new server
  3. 3. Deactivate the old license manager
  4. 4. Activate the new license manager
  5. 5. (Optional) Uninstall the old license manager or decommission the old server

Or this question on the official SolidWorks FAQ:

Question: How do I transfer my SNL server to another computer?
Answer: Launch the SNL Administrator and press Modify button. Here you will have the Transfer option if you have already activated the server.

To answer the first question, it seems to me (confirmation needed) that "full" licenses do not necessarily have to be managed by the license server.

Note 1, it is possible that some ports of the server firewall need to be opened for the server to function properly.

Note 2, it is better to be local and administrator on the server rather than in remote control, this can be a problem (it's experienced!).

Thank you for your help
