Turning a PDF into an SLDDRW

Hello to you,

We have a client who asks us to redo his plans with a few modifications. But this customer can only provide these plans in PDF. We would like to be able to open these drawings in SolidWorks in order to insert the requested modified CAD views.

We were able to transform the PDF into DXF, but the texts/dimensions do not fit, only the lines are exported.

Do you have an idea?

In advance, thank you and happy holidays!

Hello

It's a trick but if you make a screen print of your PDF and you paste it into a Word file then you create a phony drawing with the view you want to add and you capture the view with the capture tool and you paste it on the other screen print.

Hello, on an identical case, I used adobe illustrator to vectorize the pdf, assigned layers and convert it to dwg ,

Once I got the DWG, I was able to edit it in SolidWorks more easily.

Hello

If it's a veterinary PDF (real PDF and not a scan) there are websites (example http://www.pdftodxf.com/) or software (http://www.01net.com/telecharger/windows/Utilitaire/manipulation_de_fichier/fiches/32349.html) that exist!

Kind regards.

Hello.

"We were able to transform the PDF into DXF, but the texts/dimensions do not pass, only the lines are exported."

When you open your dxf in Autocad, do the texts appear or only the lines? It is surprising that the strokes alone are passing, there may be an issue of unrecognized font in your PDF -> DXF conversion

Then the import to Solidworks, you have to choose the import options carefully for the conversion to the drawing. Then there is all the correction of the dimension scales in the detail views.

Hello

When I need to retrieve information from "Vectorized" PDFs I proceed in the same way as @g.casters

Inkscape is a free software that allows you to do pdf -> dxf transformation (it's not miraculous either but it can help).

Otherwise, there is a way to go via online tools (which can pose a privacy concern). Genre https://www.pdftodxf.com/

Hello @dvalles ,

can you tell me more about the scaling and import configs of a DXF please?
I am in the same problem and I think that you have the solution to many of my problems
