[WIP] McLaren P1 (SolidWorks)

Regards!

I started making a McLaren P1 with SolidWorks, with the ambition of writing a free PDF tutorial in parallel, to allow those who are interested to also get started and learn 2-3 tricks :)

This is not my first car or my first tutorial, I have already modeled the complicated shapes of this beautiful piece so as not to go blind. The tutorial would come out on my site as I went along: http://www.imagine-cad.com/free-tutorial-mclaren-solidworks/

I will not proceed in the most intuitive way possible, namely to model the largest and then detail, but for an educational interest I will divide the modeling into chapters dealing with an area of the car...

Here is the subject of the first chapter, the roof:

Good evening

I went to see your site and it's really fun!

I love it, really!

I also spend some of my free time drawing little cars like this and I wanted to make a tutorial out of it but I lost my courage a bit:)

In any case, very good work and not to be forgotten for CAD modeling pros:

The Beetle challenge currently underway which, during the second part, will consist of a model.

Congratulations again,

A+

Hello

It announces a nice job all that! Good luck.

Hello

Congratulations, nice project and great work.

Thank you.

Have a good day and good luck...

Excellent!!!!!

I'm more of a fan of 2 wheels (but I love this type of 4-wheeled vehicle: but don't say it !!!).

The tutorials, you put them on Lynkoa I hope: I need to train there will soon be a WV Cox to model (see Challenge).

Well done... It's TOP

And if not, a cox, isn't it interesting to you? wink

Sublime pretty work, can't wait for the sequel!

Thank you for your encouragement, it's really a pleasure!

@flegendre

The 2 wheels are nice too, but the mechanics are more visible, so the best thing is to have the ref in front of you!

I post the tutorial on my site, free to download, little by little. The first chapters are available if you want to start training;)

@Yves Boutherand

I will probably participate, but two or three details still escape me about the challenge:

 - Do we have to participate in the 3 parts to be admissible or can we rely on the references collected to "only" model and render?

 - The challenge ends in 22 days to return EVERYTHING or just the refs?

I wanted to give you an image of what I was able to produce beforehand so as not to blindly jump into the tutorial!

Here are the few surfaces that I was able to model:

My site has 2-3 problems at the moment, but everything works normally, the images are available! :)

I started the ladybug a little... It's not easy to do something clean!

@Romaingin

For the Cox challenge, no, it is not necessary to participate in all 3 challenges. We can very well make just one.

The idea of the first one is simply to collect as much documentation as possible, files, etc. in order to have a common basis to then model the Cox. If we don't gather enough documentation, I'm not sure we'll launch the other 2.... to be seen...

The first one ends on the 22nd yes, but just to make the refs ... Modelling will then be the subject of a new challenge.

@Yves Boutherand

Thank you for these clarifications!

I just posted chapter 3, which consists of modeling the side of the car!
