I want to reproduce this part on Solidworks. Given its complex shape, I have watched several tutorials on the surface but I can't understand where to start building it or what are the "right" tools that would allow me to achieve my goal.
I've been looking at it for several days, without really getting a satisfactory result.
I thought that a possible method was to first make the complex shape, i.e. the "cap" of the part (the lower part on the 1st photo).
But I don't really see how and I must admit that everything is confusing in my mind.
Personally, I have little knowledge about Solidworks...
But to reproduce an existing part, the best in my opinion would be to switch to dedicated software (for example, Geomagic Design X, which benefits from gateways to Solidworks)
Your solution requires a 3d scan, which seems to me to be a heavy artillery compared to this part. I'm sure that this one is not that complicated to model for someone who has a good knowledge of surface (which is not my case).
Above all, the part reproduced must not be completely exact to the original part. There is therefore a possible margin of interpretation.
I submit a .sldprt file where I finally managed to get two surfaces that make up the hat. However, I'm a little stuck with these two surfaces. I can't fill the space between them. Nor to convert it as a volume.
A little thumb cut that could make me move forward?
Otherwise, rather than ruining your life, why don't you create an easier room to perform the same function??? Instead of looking for a solution to your problem, see if you can't get around it! (e.g. see if you can remove the recesses and if you can reduce or even remove the delicate sides!?)
