Elastomer animation

Hello
For an industry show, I'd like to make a fairly faithful animation of our cutting tools. To do this, I would like to animate elastomeric springs when the upper part of the tool comes to crush the lower part and not just make a top dead center, low dead center configuration. Do you have a solution?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hello
Possible with sw_motion of a spring modeled in the context of an assembly

Hello @alexis.kulling
As it is possible with solidworks that the parts fit into each other if you don't put any stress (no automatic collision detection), you just have to put two portions of the elastomer + a few mm corresponding to the stroke of the tool.

Then for the animation and depending on the degree of sophistication obviously go through motion or the simplest make animated GIFs if for example it is a tool to follow the animation is very simple 6 images and animation of the GIF.

(note an elastomer and much easier to animate than a spring)

Kind regards

Great, it works, thank you everyone for your solutions.

What solution did you choose???

You can close the topic if you wish!

I chose Lynkoa's solution15. I made a coaxial assembly of 2 cylinders of 0.01 thickness, spaced a certain value apart. Then, I connected these 2 cylinders by creating a new cylindrical part in the assembly without totally constraining it to give it elasticity.

Great :grinning: , it's the best method because it's more realistic.

Post us the video that we see what your company does.

Kind regards

Here is a 1st result with the animation of the elastomers on the lower part. Now I have to manage to animate the upper part, that it comes into contact with the lower part and overwrites it.
We work on mechanical component cutting tools on Swiss blocks and transfer as well as cold deformation for the automotive, railway, agricultural, construction, etc.

It throws away the deformations of the elastomers.
In my first job after school, I made tools to follow (long before the idea of CNC)

Oh not bad, our company is divided into 2 entities, one in France and one in Germany. In France we are specialized in Swiss block cutting and transfer + cold deformation and in Germany they are specialized in the tool to follow. It's true that it looks good, I try to have the most faithful animation possible to present our company at a trade fair and I will also promote the professions of industry (engineering, mechanical design, CAM) within a general high school. To show them that industry is not just grease everywhere.

Otherwise, I'm a novice in animation, I again have several questions:
1- My assembly is composed of 2 sub-assemblies (sup and inf that I make flexible) is it disturbing or do I have to work in a single assembly)
2- My goal is to make the upper part go down and when it comes into contact with the purple plate (see on the video) it goes down and crushes the elastomers, in addition, in the upper part there are ejectors that I would like to bring up when I contact the purple plate.
Is there a way to simulate contact?
Thanks in advance
