Arc - DXF Export

Hi all

I'm an electronics technician but I have to use solidworks to draw the contours of my circuit in order to be able to import it (in *.dxf*) under my placement/routing software (proteus).

I designed my piece without too many problems. This one has quite a bit of spline, and when I export it to *.dxf* my board edges that looked well rounded in solidworks now seems to be a segment sequence.

Maybe this is normal? or maybe I didn't select an option.

In any case, if anyone had a solution, I would be delighted.

Thanks in advance,

Fabrice

Hello

When exporting to DWG or DXF, you have the choice to convert the splines to poylines or not.

Some cutting or machining machines don't like splines, that's why there's this option.

To disable this behavior, in the <<Save As>> window, select <<Option>> and you'll quickly see which setting you want to change.

Kind regards.

When exporting to dxf, in the recording window you have a "options... "

Click on it and see if the "export all splines to splines" box is checked

Or if it's the other one just below. It has to be the first one that is checked

Edit: Too strong xD Yves

Thank you for your feedback.

Indeed, I had seen this option and tried the 2 cases, and it doesn't change anything.

On the other hand, I observed another thing under solidworks. When I make my changes, I have my "roundings" and as soon as I save, I also see my segments under solidworks.

Maybe, the problem is initially under solidworks, I must have forgotten to do something.

Thank you

Fabrice

The problem with splines is, although it's a well-defined mathematical object, software doesn't all have the same way of calculating them so exports are potentially more or less messed up.

In your case, I don't have the impression that splines are the best solution, I would rather try to make arc segments (I count 7 of them). In addition, your piece is symmetrical (for the exterior shape), so you can make it in half.

Thank you for the advice for the bows. I used this method (it's a bit laborious) but it works.

Thank you again.

Visually, it's adjustable in the options in the performance and image quality tab.

What do you open your dxf with?

Maybe this software to be configured.
