Assembly: make an extrusion + others!

Hi all

I would like to know how to make an extrusion in an assembly. ( I found the option but it's greyed out ! )

I would like to know if it is possible to have the "mesh modeling " and "direct editing " options in the assembly mode. ( I managed to find for functions / surfaces / molding tools )

Is it also possible to leave "solidworks resources" collapsed to the right by default?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Hello

Your sketch is in the assembly and not in a part so you can't do any extrusion.

To solve your problem, you can create a new part, you make your sketch and then your extrusion or either you right-click on one of your existing parts in the assembly, you make a new sketch and you can make an extrusion.

Kind regards

Hello

Only material removal (extruded, revolved or sweeping), drilling, fillet and chamfering are possible for material removal in the context of assembly. The addition of material can only be done by passing through a part.

For the other questions, it is advisable to ask them separately so that answers can be given for each question.

Kind regards

Thank you for your answers @n.morel and @jmsavoyat

@n.morel" you right-click on one of your existing parts in the assembly, you make a new sketch and you can make an extrusion. "

I didn't sketch when I right-click on a part in the assembly.

 @jmsavoyat Okay.

If you want, I have a personal project, to make a piece of jewelry, I thought that the way I wanted to do it was possible.

Make a base, and from the base, do the rest.

Hello @toto_du_95

You can also create new parts directly in your assembly

via the option provided for

or create x body in a share

@gt22 Thank you!

The 1st solution I know, but the problem I can't do extrusion!

The 2nd solution would be I think the best, basically do several extrusions etc ... without merging the result or otherwise combining in addition, right?
