Greyed out surface wizard to convert stl to solidworks?

Hello everyone,

I need to open an STL file and convert it to surface or volume to be able to measure. The problem is that when I open file STL format the file opens but then the surface wizard of scan to 3d is grayed out: why? How do I do or check parameters to be able to use the function?

thank you very much in advance

Hi @ giraud

an STL is surface and only surface if I'm not mistaken.

so you have to repair your surface area to be able to switch to volume

see if there are any missing joints, the seams

post your file it will be I think + simple to understand your problem

Hello

The scan to 3D is only available with the SolidWorks Premium version if I'm not mistaken!

Hello Lucas Prieur

Exactly, I have the premium version at work. Why is it greyed out?

Is the add-in enabled under "Tools > Add-ins"?

Hello

Normally, before the surface assistance can be launched, the mesh preparation must already be launched.

Hello again

Yes, the supplement is very active.  I have the toolbar but all the icons are grayed out except for the one in the curve assistant. Nothing accessible on the other, why?

Re

Stupid question no doubt but did you open the STL by selecting the STL scanto3d in the opening window?

Hello Lucas Prieur,

By opening the STL file with mesh file, I was able to access the conversion functions

Thanks again
