Hello
Above all, I advise you to keep track of your meters using the SolidWorks utility.
I think it is possible to completely uninstall SW and reinstall it.
Do you have the error message returned when stopping the installation?
See you...
The full procedure is here:
http://blog.funtech.com/2013/02/quick-tip-how-to-recover-from-vsta-1603.html?m=1
Here is the message returned by the installation manager:
Internal Error: The Windows Installer service was not running as expected for this component: Vsta.

I've had this problem before. After contacting Axemble support. Here is the solution found:
"We were finally able to reinstall SolidWorks cleanly after renaming the keys:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHost
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHostConfig"
Uninstalling and reinstalling Vsta didn't change anything.
I'll uninstall SW2015Sp1.1, rename the keys:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHost
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHostConfig"
and reinstall the SP3.0 directly.
I'll keep you posted.
@remrem: that's what he said in the link I posted:
"To fix this issue, follow the below steps:
- Uninstall Visual Studio Tools 2005 for Application from Programs and features. (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Click on Visual Studio Tools 2005 for Application > Uninstall)
- Remove VSTA registry entries*
*Export registry back up before making changes! (Right click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Export >save file to desktop) - Start > Type "regedit" > Delete or rename the following keys:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VSTA
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTA (64bit only)
- Install the Visual Studio Tools Application manually from the prereqs folder found on the SolidWorks DVD or downloaded file set (documents/SolidWorks downloads/prereqs)
- Install SolidWorks (disable Antivirus)"
@PL: Personal. It's been a long time since I open all the links posted...
Thanks for the info...
