Above all, I advise you to keep track of your meters using the SolidWorks utility.

I think it is possible to completely uninstall SW and reinstall it.

Do you have the error message returned when stopping the installation?

Hello, you need to uninstall visual studio tools, then reinstall it.

Here is the message returned by the installation manager:

 

Internal Error: The Windows Installer service was not running as expected for this component: Vsta.

Contact technical support.

When you contact support about installation issues, you are asked to provide the log files located in this directory. Use the button below to save your logs to a zip file and send it to technical support.

I've had this problem before. After contacting Axemble support. Here is the solution found:

"We were finally able to reinstall SolidWorks cleanly after renaming the keys:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHost
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHostConfig"

Uninstalling and reinstalling Vsta didn't change anything.

I'll uninstall SW2015Sp1.1, rename the keys:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHost
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHostConfig"

and reinstall the SP3.0 directly.

I'll keep you posted.

"To fix this issue, follow the below steps:
 

  1. Uninstall Visual Studio Tools 2005 for Application from Programs and features. (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Click on Visual Studio Tools 2005 for Application > Uninstall)

     
  2. Remove VSTA registry entries*
    *Export registry back up before making changes! (Right click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Export >save file to desktop)
  3. Start > Type "regedit" > Delete or rename the following keys: 
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VSTA
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTA (64bit only)
  4. Install the Visual Studio Tools Application manually from the prereqs folder found on the SolidWorks DVD or downloaded file set (documents/SolidWorks downloads/prereqs)
  5. Install SolidWorks (disable Antivirus)"

I just uninstalled SW2015Sp1.1, rename the keys:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VSTAHostConfig"

and reinstall the SP3.0 directly.

Everything works properly.
