Need help please

Hi all

I'm doing an internship on Solidworks 2014 and I'm stuck because my tutor is asking me this:

To make an assembly piece by piece in a motion study, i.e. to show the assembly of the whole step by step.

My question is this: Is it possible? If so, can you help me because I am for the moment without a solution.

Thank you

Hello

In SolidWorks there are two tutorials on motion studies:

  1.  Click ?  > SolidWorks Tutorials.
  2. Click All SolidWorks Tutorials and select a tutorial from the list.

Either "Motion Analysis Redundancies" or "Motion along a path".

The second will be useful to you.

Otherwise, you can find them on Youtube:

Or one here:

To show Step, you can create configurations of each state of your assembly.

Example: if you have an assembly that has a cylinder

Config R: cylinder retracted

Config S: cylinder outlet

Otherwise you can also use exploded views:

So, my tutor wants the pieces to come one by one to show the direction of the assembly.

I tried with the exploded view but, precisely, you can already see the parts and so in the end, it will hinder the visibility more than anything else.

So I'm looking if it's possible to start with nothing, then the support, then the square etc ...

The final goal is a video?

To make components appear or disappear, we can use the motion study:

You have to go through the "Motion study" module, you may already have it at the bottom of the graphics window next to the "Model" tab. Otherwise just add it, it's called "MotionManager" in the toolbox palette.

Then, you have to watch the SolidWorks tutorial and watch "Animation" (see image)

@b.richard.pinet:

The configurations meet your demand.

You hide the parts according to the configurations

Yes, the goal is a video to show the assembly point by point and the way to assemble the assembly without forcing like a bully to break everything.

The best of the best for this kind of thing is SolidWorks Composer (ex 3D via Composer). Are you equipped with it?

As mentioned in my first message, motion studies lend themselves perfectly to this:

Create a video by moving, masking, or popping up components.

But it's sure that Composer is the range above (be careful with the price!).

I don't own COmposer alas. I'm going to try to do this under the motion study by hiding the pieces.

Thank you for your responsiveness:) I am not closing the discussion to keep you informed of the progress.
