Function Library

Hello

I am in the process of creating a function library in order to quickly create modular configurations in my rooms (mainly duct networks) and I am struggling with the references to be given to position my function for its integration.

I started with already existing functions and broke them down in order to understand how they work. I manage to create the piece I want, to insert the modular ribs properly, but I can't define my references.

In the attached image you can see the hopper that I am making. My problem is in the Feature Manager tree, the reference folder contains the deposit face, I would like to add the circular edge so that my hopper is centered with the deposit pipe. How to do it???

I have read a few tutorials but it is not clearly explained (in the link to the attached tutorial, the author specifies to choose the right references but he does not stipulate how to attribute them). http://www.leguide3d.com/profiles/blogs/les-fonctions-de-biblioth-que

Hello

According to the aid, it is at the time of registration that references are also indicated:

In the Add to Library PropertyManager , type the name of the file and, optionally:

  1. Enter a description.
  2. Click References  to display the Save As dialog box with references

Edit:

You can clearly see the reference button on this video when recording at the bottom of the feature manager on the attached image.

In your library function, you would have to have a cylinder as a base shape and in the sketch of your hopper function, make the circle concentric with this base cylinder.

So when you insert your library function, it will ask you to point towards the edge of a cylinder to make it coaxial with the circle of the hopper sketch.

I don't know if I was very clear in my explanation...

@Lucas, Thank you for the speed of the response, unfortunately, we are not talking about the same references, what you show me is to record the referenced elements in my room at the time of its recording, in my case, I am looking for the positioning references of my function to its integration in a room. Apart from that, thank you for the link to the video, it will help me a lot during the next "stop"!

@benoit, I understood your explanation, and indeed, my reference is created automatically if I establish the right sketch relationships, I have worked a lot and I have found the right cocircularity relationship which is going well!! Thank you very much
