To continue on the debate, I find it quite logical that it is impossible to recover the construction tree of one software another.

 

If I take the example of an Extrusion/Boss function, with SolidWorks this function allows you to directly create a thin function which is not supported by Solid Edge. Conversely, Solid Edge allows you to create a crown (tooth) directly in the extrusion while SolidWorks does not know how to do it... I can't even imagine the problem of surface functions (I'm convinced that Catia has extremely advanced functions than SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor... do not know how to reproduce identically)!

 

So basically, one function in one software = 2 or 3 functions on another (and vice versa!)

 

The only possible solution is to rebuild a tree using the functions of the import software or to work on the geometry without a tree... Of course, none of these solutions allows you to be 100% of the editing possibilities on 100% of the parts imported from another software.
