Calculating a force

Given the images and the reflections of @OBI_WAN it will be complicated to fit in a device like the one you propose. But it's pretty.
Don't forget that there is an independent adjustment for each roller and that the rollers are oversized if I remember correctly.

Yes, a path that we have explored but we find ourselves with the same problem, impossible to intervene on the rudder pedal bearing if necessary.
@Le_Bidule yes, with your help, we have clearly demonstrated that the rollers are correctly sized, which does not explain the breakage. They are random in time, it can go from a few hours to several months.

Hi @OBI_WAN
It looks like a construction screen, doesn't it?
Your breakages are surely related to shocks.
Like 3 or 4 T of rubble that goes away all at once when it is supposed to go down little by little.
If the power supply can't be a problem, maybe various stones/obstacles that happen from time to time to slip between the crown and your roller → you bring the whole screen up dynamically (and you didn't size a crusher roller).
If the pb comes from there and you don't want/can't protect your crown + the roller (a giant cover outside the crown), you may need to have 2 rollers in contact but mounted on springs (to be able to withstand the passage of an obstacle without breaking everything). It complicates the design quite a bit, but if the stops are frequent (and expensive because of the operating loss), it could be worth the cost.

And/or vibrations and other resonances (harmonic response).

I had applied 10-15 years ago to a company selling (and therefore setting up) sorting centres.
Given my knowledge of SW and what had been presented to me, I left in the course of the interview: spending my days managing interferences, exporting machines that were not up to date in different formats (cumbersome 3D not lightened by the subcontractor and therefore having to rework a lot or worse 2D to redraw with each version), the crashes and slowness of SW in front of the complexity of the thing...
I preferred to keep my mental health and give up the job.
If your name is not Renault/PSA to be able to force the whole chain to work with a single software, it's really the kind of hard job (although it must have improved now because there must not be many people left working in 2D).
