Hello

Yes! Simply...
Do you have a specific example in mind? A subject?
Re
yes for example aircraft fuselage, or the complex surface
Thank you
Catia is originally more suitable, although SolidWorks theoretically has the ability to do so.
It also depends on the level of detail you are aiming for. It is certainly not without reason that planes and cars are rather designed on Catia and not SolidWorks!
The 2 software programs are from the same developer! Catia has more advanced caclul modules like thermodynamics, RDM etc, but in terms of pure CAD I don't see what one has more than the other!
Hello
In theory, yes. In practice not really...
I work on both software, and a concrete example: the modeling of a turbine blade according to old paper plans, first try with Solidworks in surface and impossible to redraw the blade with it. Second try with Catia, no problem, still on surface.
Catia's modules are much more advanced and complete in terms of functions, but in any case the two software programs are oriented towards two different segments and difficult to compare.
Have a good day everyone.
@Benoit.LF: It is above all a "historical" problem. CATIA has been around for much longer than SW and has quickly established itself among other aircraft manufacturers (let's not forget that Dassault is basically an aircraft manufacturer that developed its design tool, in collaboration with IBM I think).
.
I would say that everything that is modeled on solidworks can be modeled on Catia and not the other way around
Catia is more elaborate and more suitable for surface
Solidworks, as the name suggests, is more solid-focused
Solidworks was acquired by EADS at the base solidworks is Canadian
most people who work on Catia say that Solidworks is made for students ;-))
Solidworks has evolved a lot since its acquisition and is getting closer to + and closer to Catia but there is still a huge difference between these two Log
It's not the same product at all and not at all the same price
