Change of PC

Hello

I'm more used to asking practical questions, but now I'm stuck

I have version 11 of Solidworks , I changed my PC

I tried to load SLDW   with the DVD  the setup blocks me

when you click on it the sldlM asks me for permission to modify on my pc, after the yes

The disk starts and stops , back to square one.

I sent an email to Visiativ , no answer!!

 What should I do

Hi @  LARGHETTO

The problem arises it seems to me but without knowing since you don't give the info

The version of Windaube if you're in 10 or 8 I don't think it works

If you have W7 it should work

What did you take as a PC and system?

@+

Hello

Now it's window 10  before I had the 7 then the 8

from a laptop I switched to a tower with 1 terra and 8 GB of ram

Finally the 10 is installed now, should I downshift?

That's not fun

Kind regards

I read via Google searches that it could still work

in theory w10 is compatible with the mini SW 2015 sp5

according to my readings

And what did you take as a proc ?

@+

Hello

SW 2011 is not compatible with Windows 10, but with Windows 7.

Attached is the link detailing all this: link

Good evening

First of all, thank you for your answers
Yes a priori, I read well in the properties

that compatibility was Windows 7

however I installed Sldw 4 years ago on a laptop, it was w7  ok

But in 2018 or early 19  I switched to W8

and in early 2020 Windows 10

and during all this time I never had a problem with SLDW even with these Windows changes

So I find it hard to understand

What do you think?
Kind regards

For information here are the characteristics of my PC

Your PC config is not great for SW

look at this link for installation issues

https://www.visiativ-solutions.fr/problemes-solidworks-microsoft-mise-jour/

Test drive and give news

@+

Sorry gt22 I don't understand your sentence

"Your PC config is not great for SW"

can you explain to me

Thank you

Larghetto83

Given the configuration of your pc it's not optimized for solidworks

It's not a workstation suitable for solidworks

not convinced that your graphics card is in the criteria and solidworks approved

(your configue is not great)

Oops.... forget the step ;-( in my previous message

Have you looked at the links I posted?

@+

Thank you for your answer

yes I looked at the Visiativ doc

I created "install" in window following their instructions

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer (Note: If the "Install" folder does not exist, create it. Right-click on the "Windows" folder then New/Key).

but  do I really have to register the 32-bit Dword key

whereas we are going to work in 64 bits????

Oops, unrecorded message, empty party

I will start my answer again

Yes I read  the  visiativ tutorial,

I created the "install" directory but I'm skeptical about the key

they indicate Dword 32 bits,

why not Qword 64 bits???

See more on page 2

To conclude, I am recommended:

Finally, go to the SOLIDWORKS administrative image folder and restart the StartSWInstall.hta (to perform a SOLIDWORKS repair ).

Where is the so-called administrative image, to find the famous StartSWInstall.hta file

In any case thank you for your help

Larghetto

Hello

StartSWInstall.hta is not found in the administrative image

isn't it purely and simply the SETUP ??

My config not being "great" for SLDW is this a reason for the config not to launch?

SW11 on W10, that's a lot of lag.

It is possible that on the old machine, the Windows version changes did not cause a problem but that the direct installation on W10 cannot be done.
Before considering a return to W7, if you can, try running the install on a blank W7 machine.
Be careful that there are no more updates for W7,
Generally speaking, you may also have problems installing for Office.

The administrative image installation is a special installation procedure, dedicated to companies with a network: the image is hosted on a server and deployed on the user machines by the system administrator.
In your case, you must only apply the 1st part of the Visiativ procedure (individual installation).

Thank you for your answer

I will work in this direction and keep you informed

Kind regards
