How to automate 2D cartridge filling in SpaceClaim?

Hello

If I understand correctly, what you're  looking for is to be able to very quickly set properties in order to display them in a title block of a clip.

If that's right, you have to develop a small utility vehicle for it. The SpaceClaim APIs make this possible.

I know someone who works at SpaceClaim, so I'm going to ask him if such a little program exists.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have his answer.

Thank you!

Hello

So, our contact at SpaceClaim told us this:

Without additional tools, the solution is to create document and basemap templates.

However, our contact told us that one of his resellers has developed a tool for this, that he was contacting him to find out more, and to see if it was possible to make it available on our platform. In that case, I will inform you.

Best regards

Hello

Thank you for the search for contact and solution. For my part, I tested and combined many variants to get there. As standard, you can place in a cartouche annotations related to properties (personal among others, but not those of the object's physics such as weight, material) and save this as a drawing model.

Two limitations arise when this drawing is made to a design with multiple parts:

1) Annotations cannot be changed except via properties or a personal symbol.

2) Only the properties of the design (file encompassing all parts) are available when the title block is created, not the properties of the part or parts. Also, this principle only works for properties of the set (for overall plan) or for project annotations that remain similar on each plan.

Development suggestion:

- Be able to edit unlinked annotations in drawings

- Introduce part (component) properties in the creation of property-related annotations

- Introduce the physical properties of the components

With the second suggestion, it becomes possible to control all the entries in the title block via the properties. The first suggestion might then be useless.

Temporary solution found (SpaceClaim 2012+):

Create symbols (blocks) including title blocks, with annotations related to personal properties for project/client/..., annotations indicated as editable for part-specific information. Create drawings only with the format frame and import the title block symbol for each drawing. The information in the title block can thus be modified.

I may have missed something, but it's working best for the moment.

I would be very grateful if a better solution was offered to me and/or if these suggestions make enough sense to go back to the supplier. Unless the tool of the reseller in question is accessible...

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Kind regards

Hello

So my contact at SpaceClaim tells me that indeed, this problem is known and that the next major version of SpaceClaim will automate cartridge filling and improve the use of properties associated with notes.

He also tells me that there can be a workaround using document templates.

You need to create a document template that contains all the properties, including the links in the title block to the properties of the plan part, include the drawing in that template, and use that template for each new design.

At the same time, I'm trying to get in touch with a Danish Spaceclaim dealer who has developed a utility that solves your problem.
I'll tell you more about that as soon as I can.

Best regards
Yves

Hello

Thank you for your solution! However, you have to place several formats of drawings in the template because you don't necessarily know this format in advance. But it works.

Do you know the release date of the 2013 version?

Kind regards

Mathias

Hello gentlemen,

Would you be interested in our 3D software SpaceClaim SMO Plus, sheet metal boilermaking software among others which allows you to model parts and unfold them.
