How do you center a part with another on Solidworks?

I would like to be able to center the square you see in the photo with the support that is attached to the mast (cylinder in the picture)

Hello

Click the 4 faces that are // and use the slide constraint.

once in one direction and then the other.

may the force be with you.

thank you I 'll see if I can do it

I can't do it , I get a message displayed : "The selected entities are not valid"

Even if you keep the Ctrl key in dark, it doesn't work

Here is a tutorial from our friends @alain ERP

Good evening

Why not simply use a constraint that coincides with the plane of your Mat with that of your square?

It all depends on where you put the origins for your parts of course.

If you don't have a central plan for your square, just create one.

On the other hand, if you need to rotate on the axis, just create an axis on your tube and align the plane of your square on this axis.

Hoping to have understood your problem.

Hello

You can also use the planes of the square and the faces of the support and create symmetrical constraints.

Thank you AC Cobra

I had never thought of using the COOOoooolll  symmetric  constraints :-)

By the way , for the sym constraint on SW2015->SW2018 they reversed the selection, sym plan and then the other 2 planes, while before it was the opposite.

There should be a "preferably" option to do the opposite: 2 shots then the sym plan, but we can dream of that.

Personally, I have a bit of a hard time getting used to it after 8 years of use.

As we say all the time on SW, there is not only one solution, it's up to you to use the one that is closest to your use / design.

@FUZ3D : It's more like they've gone back since 2016 to the initial order of selection for this function it seems to me. When I went from 2009 to 2014 the order was faces then plane of symmetry while I had always known plane of symmetry then faces (which from my point of view seems more logical to me)

Hello

It's true that I hadn't noticed the constraint "centered profiles" which I find to be quite good, merci@alain ERP.

may the force be with you.

Just a simplification by comparing the @FUZ3D method: no need to create the axis, just display the temporary axes

@stefbeno Thanks for the info, never used this trick.

thank you for helping me I succeeded :)
