How to create MEPs from a room with multiple configurations

Hello

I have a part that has 158 config and now I have to create the 158 MEPs, is there a macro to automate things?

Thank you for your feedback.

Hello

The simplest is the intelligent dimensioning function, making plans automatically is, in my opinion, pernicious. If the part goes out of the drawing you will no longer have access to certain details, if in some configuration you have functions enabled/disabled you will have 'useless' sides.

If you have built the part well with the intelligent dimensioning (objects of the model) you can make the plans quickly. Creating them automatically seems complicated to me.

A room with 158 configuration isn't a bit much? If you have modeled 158 parts, it doesn't make sense to make 158 plans? If it's just dimensions, length, Ø, width, which changes, it may be enough to refer to a table

Kind regards

We made an order from a customer of 158 pieces, now I have to engrave their number on each one. for this I have a software that transforms dxf into Gcode. but  I wanted to avoid creating all the MEPs because then I use the SW task scheduler and export all the MEPs to DXF. Tell me if I'm not clear?

In this topic you will find the d.roger macro allowing you to save a drawing with the name of the configuration, it will save you from opening the explorer and changing the name every time you change the configuration already :

To go further it depends on the drawing, if you want to change the configuration of view 1 or 2 or 3, or all the views...  I can't help you more than that at the moment.

Kind regards

Ok thank you I'll try.

I have only one view.

Have a nice day

Hello

All you have to do is make an A3 MEP according to the size of your parts with letters as dimensions and export your Excel file by modifying it so that the letters correspond with your config data and paste it into the MEP.

If you don't have a part family file, just create a part family and it will automatically generate the file with all the info.

Hello

Let's go for 158 shots in automatic per macro, see the example in the attached zip file.

All you have to do is unzip the zip in a folder (on the desktop for example), open only the map and then run the attached macro. This should create 5 new named plans following the config name plus the sheet name and stored in the same folder.

The painting plan is perhaps not a bad idea!!

Kind regards

Hello

Is there a real interest in making a plan by config?

Personally, I would make a plan of principle, with A/B/C/D dimensions... Referring to a table, then a text box without the text being displayed while specifying its characteristics (font, size, bold or not etc...) I would add a column with the text to be engraved/cut in the table.

Hop 1 plan = 158 pieces.

If it's a question of DXF for the cutting shape, there are macros that can do that easily.

Another thing to imagine: The evolution of indices! An ordeal with such a number of shots.

In addition, the laser software in our company is able to do this automatically.

On our plans we mark XXXXX to be replaced by and the list of numbers and the cutting software is equipped with a function that can replace the XXXXX with the numbers in a totally automated way.

Michael DELACOTE proposes exactly what I proposed two answers earlier...

And? I didn't understand your explanation in this way, that there are twice the same procedure that comes out explained in different ways is rather reassuring, isn't it? I try to help but if it's glory you want, I'll gladly let you do it;)

We're here to help each other and it was only an observation and it's clear that it's a good sign if two answers give the same result, on the other hand I'm not here for the "glory" as you say!!
