How do you create a relief or boss on a complex surface?

Hello

I'm contacting you because I can't finish my piece. It is a shell (protection) for the knee.

I created the shape on which I would like to add a relief or a boss, while keeping a homogeneous thickness. I haven't found the solution (method or function).

If anyone has the solution, feel free to leave me an answer. You will find my piece (I can send a picture of another piece with the relief I would like to make)

Thank you for your help! :)

Here's one way to do it

You need to create sketch lines on your top plane that you will project onto your surface

a /a

do a volume scan for each projected line

and at the end a revolution

then take the internal surface to have your part in surface

your basic part has defects

It creates an undesirable angle via symmetry

You have to make sure that your sketch lines 1, 2 and 3

can have at an angle allowing a good continuity

Here is your modeling of a rib in surface area, you will just have to thicken it afterwards

@+ ;-)

attached file SW 2017

but I think that with my explanations you should get out of it ;-)

You create a sketch on your top plane and draw a groove

You create a separating line on both sides

You generate a dome from the two surfaces created

PS: I tried to put you sceenshots but apparently I exceed 6000 characters...
