I model a sheet metal stand comprising several parts in an assembly.
These parts have holes to receive either a screw or a pop rivet. I would like to link the dimensions of these perforations from one part to another by defining rivet=3.2mm and screw 4mm to allow me to change everything at once if I change hardware.
I think that by making equations it is possible but having never used these options I don't know how to do it. Maybe there are easier ways to derive it?
@thomas.Dieulle I don't see any other solution than equations.
It's quite simple actually. In your assembly, you do Tool>Equation... In global variables you create 'Vis' with your desired value and 'Rivet' with your desired value. Then, click in an empty Equation cell and in the graphics part you select your desired dimension. Then when it appears in the cell, you click on the empty Linked Value cell and select the desired global variable. Do this for all your piercings. You will only have to modify your two values Screw and Rivet and all will be modified. Don't forget to refresh your Ctrl+Q design a few times
This method may make some people cringe at ^^ but it works well :p
I think Thomas wants to make a link in an assembly and probably equations don't allow pointing from editing a part in the context to an equation value created in the parent assembly file.
