How to Draw a Braided Garland on Solidworks

Hello 

 

I would like to draw a braided garland on Solidworks, with the leds, following a defined outline. 

 

How can I do this?

 

What would you advise me?

Good evening

If it's to make a representation, by a 3D sketch in spline and an extruded base it has to do it.

The hardest part is to draw the braid.

Hello 

 

     If you really want a braid, I think SEPM. Gerald gave you the solution, otherwise, maybe with the propeller and spiral function, you could get something pretty good too.

In fact it is this method, but there is a limit in the number of rounds to be braided.

Can you explain to me why we are limited to the number of turns ?????????????????

Don't forget that you have three bodies that must not touch each other if braid of 3 elements

 

The only limit is your PC (graphics card) and the length of your wire

 

1000 meters in one piece, yes it's starting to be long ;D ;D ;D

as all this intrigued me, I tried "in real" with my 5m RGB led strip to see the rendering between braid and side by side.... Not convinced

What do you mean Gerald? Is there a library under solidworks of braids or LED cables

 

Well in fact Gt22, you can only go up to 100 turns max for the rotation around the outline. (In the swipe option). And in the end the longer you have a cable, the less twisted it is. Maybe there is another option?

if you are  limited in the number of turns (100t) via this app

Why  not use the Body Repeat feature

since the location of your lights along this braid must be at one time or another in the same place
