How do I make sketch strokes appear for engraving to see them in my STEP file?

Hello

I have to make sketches for text engraving on a tube.

My tube laser subcontractor must be able to read my STEP file with these sketches that look like lines.

thank you for your help

I don't think it's possible

on the other hand you can create a mini removal of material

or surface extruxion on surface due

if you are working on a solid or surface

for mini removal using the embossing tool with material removal.

This distorts the lines less on cylindrical surfaces (to try)

Kind regards

Can I do a material removal if I only have open outline lines?

On my example attached I want to engrave "798" with this font so that the laser only makes one pass

You also have the option

create volume numbers from 0 to 9

In half section with mini slide

and subsequently position

these said figures on your piece

and via a Boolean operation delete the common bodies

it's a bit of a job but then + no problem for your part markings

Hello

A silly question; but your subcontractor can't use your Solidworks file to create the marking when creating the tube laser cutting file?

There are options to make the font text bold -> this creates 2 staggered lines and therefore closed contours that can be used very well for a removal of material by extrusion for example. This is what we use to mark our foundry bodies (with the 'winding' function it's great).
