How do I default BOMs according to the order of assembly?

Hello

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to check the "follow assembly order" box by default when creating a bill of materials.

Thank you

Hello

In the property manager of the Nomenclature, go to

Select Follow Assembly Order to order the BOM item numbers in the same way as the assembly. When this option is selected, you can select Follow Subassembly Order to order the BOM item numbers in the same way as the subassembly.

That's what I usually do, but I have to do the trick every time I insert a nomenclature. What I'm looking for is to have it checked automatically when inserting a nomenclature.
I forgot to specify, I'm on SW 2018 SP5.

I don't have access to solidworks at the moment. I don't remember like that.

  1. If this is configured, I think it should be done in the next plan or assembly model where you insert your table.
  2. Or in the document properties -> Skin Standards-> Tables

Or you do it on an empty assembly that you save for your initial assembly save in asmdot (assembly model)

This model assembly should replace your model assembly when you start when you create an empty assembly. (See Tool menu, Document Template File  Locations option)

Hello

No Solidworks on hand at the moment but, from memory, you should be able to set your BOM style when inserting and then save it as a BOM template, it should be in .sldbomtbt format. Each time a BOM is inserted, Solidworks keeps in memory the last loaded model so you will always have your BOM as you wish...

Kind regards

Sbadenis, I tried by searching in my assembly model, I found nothing that allowed me to have or not, the default assembly order.

D.roger, this is already how I saved my BOM models. I can check the box for the assembly order and save later, but it doesn't stay checked when inserting a new BOM.

I'll put you in the 2 boxes that are problematic (especially the 1st one actually)

Try to take a drawing where you made the modification and then save it as a template.

That way, when you start from the model, the options previously choose its enabled by default.

I can't do as you suggest, sbadenis. If I want to be able to insert a bill of materials into a drawing, I need to have a view beforehand. Except that if I put a view, I can no longer save the MEP as a model (circular ref problem).

Attached is the error message that it gives me when I do this.

You insert a view, change the BOM option, delete the view and save as a template to see if it works. (keeps a backup of the other drawing template does not overwrite it).

Same answer, if I insert a view, whether I delete it or not after putting the nomenclature, it gives me the reference error message of the last message.
