How to open two files on 2 screens with the same solidworks session

Hello

I have two screens to work on and I would like to open a soliuddwork file on each of the screens

Hello

In the tiled > window menu:

This reorganizes all open documents. Just minimize the documents you don't want to see and redo the mosaic.

Edit: at the time for me, for a double screen, you have to do:

Display > Working Space > Dual Screen

As .PL says, this is the right thing to do.

And also think about extending the display and adapting the settings in the graphics drivers for optimal use of resources.

You have to click on the icon to the left of the app's closing cross.

then play with the icons indicated by PL

Hello, I'm in the same situation as you (I have two screens). When I need to, I open a first file normally, then I open a second solidworks file (double click on the Solid shortcut) like the first one and there I get the message that the automatic backup is disabled. Then I open file, I select what I want to open and then that's it.

Of course, you move the second solid on the second screen! :)

Kind regards

I think the solution I propose is better, as it uses less RAM than 2 instances of SolidWorks open at the same time.

Agree with you PL for the RAM but if you want to copy an identical sketch quickly, you unfortunately don't have too much choice. It all depends on what you want to do.

Personally I very rarely use two solidworks at the same time, but it happened to me.

Kind regards

I don't understand what you mean, maybe you haven't read my answer.

The result is exactly the same as what you say: SolidWorks appears on two screens (or even more) by opening SolidWorks only once.

An image to illustrate my point:

In fact, having two different solidworks allows you to edit two sketches at the same time, see the attached image.

@G.M by opening several files in the same SolidWorks session also you can edit two sketches....

If you have 2 screens

it's easy to open Sw on the first screen. And to stretch on the 2°

Once stretched you open X files and  you move and enlarge them as you want

You will have the feature manager present for the active file on the primary screen

and each file will be active by a mouse click on the said file

you know everything

You can also open 2 solidworks but more greedy

Indeed, but if you open a single Solidworks and stretch it on both screens in this case it is better to have two identical screens because on mine this is not the case and Solidworks adapts to the smaller of the two. Otherwise, @coyote right, I didn't know that now you could edit two sketches in a single Solidworks application! Thank you for this info!.

Kind regards

@coin37coin, it's not my screen! If you had known how to search for an image on the net, you would have found it very easily! But it seems that there is no point in looking for an image!

@ PL I find it very practical and useful, image search is a tool that I use quite often and it saves me research time

@PL: I don't understand the allusion! :D

@gt22: ditto, I use the image search a lot, and in some cases it saves a lot of time, but @coin37coin told me that it was useless!

I don't think @ coin 37 coin's answer

was also, if dry or maybe .......... Has it been  misinterpreted ;-)

The search for an image or photo in some cases is in my opinion very useful

I think @PL was just trying to make a joke mirror one of my answers from last week

Even if it is true that the placement of an emoticon can sometimes help with understanding, I am not sure that we need to go further in the debate ;)

(well that said, on a very personal level, it touches me to see that I am defended like this^^)

Hello

I also have two screens to work on and I managed to  open a solidworks file on each of the screens. My problem is that every time I perform this operation, my computer crashes and I have to turn it off and then restart it. Don't you have an explanation or a solution to solve this inconvenience ? Thank you.
