Create an offset plane on the x-surface
On this plane, create the sketch close it
Atelier Solid Icon on the Right Curve
take projected curve
Sketch on the face by selecting the correct sketch
That's it

You can also use the winding and selection tracer function instead of waffle or unwaffle.
Normally with all the answers you should find what you are looking for.
