I would like to make a 3D printed piece, with on the top side many small reliefs, imitating a rocky surface. I want this to be well embossed and not just an appearance or texture that I'll put on my piece. And of course I'm not going to have fun drawing each relief with extrusions or smoothings.
Having done some tests, it's quite impressive in terms of textures! but you need a machine that runs behind it! Example here I just drew a parallelepiped:
On the other hand, these are appearances, renderings and not geometry per se. If your piece is a sphere, your printable file will be a perfect sphere. I don't think there is a bridge between textured appearance and mesh for 3D printing...
