How do I save custom properties in the drawing?

Hello, I recently created a drawing with frame and title block and used properties for annotations for the first time. Subsequently, I also created custom properties that work perfectly on the drawing document. However, after saving the document as a template, as soon as I want to use this template for another drawing, my custom properties are not displayed while the one provided by SW is visible. What for? And what to do? Thank you very much.

Did you save these properties in the basemap?

And also don't forget to create basemap and plan template because it's not the same thing. (SLDDRW and SLDDRT)

Yes, I did make the properties on the basemap since the other SW properties appear in a new drawing. As for the format, I saved under both in order to keep a backup in case of possible changes.

Thank you very much.

Can you attach the background plan or model and specify the property in question?

No worries, I attach the background plan used. On a new drawing, we know how to change the basemap with the new one, but as soon as the reconstruction or the page is changed, the custom properties do not appear as if they did not exist.

Sorry for me SW 2018 so I can't open.

But if you manage to make the 1st MEP functional but when you create another page it doesn't work it means that you have to copy your slddrt in the folder indicated in: Tools, options file locations, basemaps.

Or that your slddrt file is not functional (property saved in the sheet instead of the basemap for example)

Be careful, custom properties are saved in the document template (drwdot or prtdot or asmdot) and are displayed by the basemap.

The background map is just the visual aspect.
If you start with a standard SW model and just change the basemap, it's normal that it doesn't work.

Can you attach a part, the drawing that works, and a slddrt file that doesn't?

Hi all.

Having paid the price, there is a timeline to follow for the models.

1 Create your own model with its basemap.
2 Save the basemap. (*.slddrt)
3 Save the model. (*.slddrw)
4 Reload the basemap in the template (very important to enable the FdP consideration)
5 Re-Saving the Template

From this point on you can use the template and it should have all the variables you  created.

Hello, now it works as soon as you open it with the model. By following your methods, it's perfect:) However, as soon as I want a second sheet, it doesn't find the background plan directly, I have to go and look for it in my documents. What to do?

Hello everyone,

Fully agree with @Todesco,

I will add that you have to think at the time of step 4 to check the layout settings for the printing "Printing -> layout" (long live the 4A portrait pages which are printed in A3 landscape :-) )

As well as in the properties of the sheet that the project is the desired one (Europe / US) and that the labels of the view are indeed "A"

For the 2nd sheet, you have to change the location of the basemaps:

Tools, file location options, basemaps.

I would even add to put this folder 1st in the list so as not to have problems
