How to remove a prefix from all parts of an assembly following a pack and go. (SolidWorks)

Hello

On SolidWorks, my parts are named as follows:

Sub-Assembly Number - Part Number - Part Name.

I had made a pack and go to add a version number of the assembly, i.e.:

Assembly version number - Sub-assembly number - Part number - Part name.

For example: TR01-02-05 - Fluted Shaft

Today I would like to change the version number of the assembly to have for example: TR02-02-05 - Splined shaft

Do you know if there's a way to do this automatically? I have 165 elements, I prefer to avoid making them all one by one and then go and get the new part.

Thank you

Hello

If you have access to myCADtools you have 2 solutions

- Make a project copy with ProjectManager and manage naming rules

- Directly modify the file names with the ProjectExplorer tool, it will modify the SOLIDWORKS reference links

Hello

You can make a pack and go of your files like TR01-02-05-XXXX,

in the pack and go, you press "Select/Replace" then you type "TR01-", you check the option "Replace text with:", then you write down your new assembly number (TR02-) (See Pj)

PS: If you're wondering why I deliberately put the "-" in the search and in the replacement, it's to avoid the case where you have TR01 written elsewhere in the name (Rare case but which can happen), e.g. TR01-02-05-ATR01 which would be replaced by TR02-02-05-ATR02

Thank you Philippe.

Interesting this tool.

Unfortunately no, I don't have them.

Hello

Look at what the nice guy told me @sbadenis

It seems to me if I understood correctly that it could help you.

Kind regards

Thank you Gauthik, it's perfectly what I need. I didn't know about this option.
