Comparing 3d files

Hello

I want to compare 3D files, only when I use the comparison tool and define my criteria (comparison of geometries) the comparison starts but does not go to the end, solidworks no longer responds and closes.

Is there another comparison tool, I usually do this "handmade" by taking the two 3d in question in assembly and superimposing them by constraints by differentiating them by colors in order to see possible discrepancies.

Thank you in advance for your advice!!

Hello

This happens if the files are complex. Are your files imported? Do they have surfaces?

Hello

You can try to let SolidWorks run overnight to see if there is a result.

Sometimes it feels like SolidWorks is crashing, but it rises from the ashes!

You can see in the process tab of the task manager, if the amount of memory changes, it's because there's still hope!

See this tutorial

  1. draw compare is for plan bets
  2. design-checker for parts

@+ ;-)

Hello

You can also do the following:

1-Import one part into the other ('insert' menu then 'part') by ticking 'with the move/copy function'

2-Install the imported part superimposed on the original part

3-Perform a subtraction of the two bodies by concering all the bodies

FINISHED,  we have the difference of the 2 pieces.

@ PL I answered you on the comments page of the said tutorial

How to compare 2 pieces

Reread the tutorial from 5 mm 44 and you will understand how to see the differences in parts, volumes, surfaces and functions

Just click in the right place to view the diffs

Personally, I think it's super great but everyone does as they want and has their own work habits.

have a nice day @+ ;-))

Hello

CADIQ allows the comparison of 2 to 4 SolidWorks models or a SolidWorks model with several other formats (Catia, ProE, ...). The comparison can be in order to document a modification or to validate that there is no deviation between 2 models, during a conversion for example.

The reports are in text or 3D format. It is possible to generate a 3D PDF file as in this example.

The solution pays off.

To summarize everything, I created a tutorial which is available here:
