Welded construction and bent part

Hi all

I use Solidworks 2016 under W10 in mechanical engineering but I am not a great specialist in welded construction.

I have to draw a tubular chassis in welded construction, my problem is that I don't know how to force the software to consider that the element in blue on the image is not composed of 3 elements welded together but that it is a single part obtained by folding the tube.

Thank you in advance for your elements of solution.

Hello

Otherwise make an assembly and drop the welded construction, it's easier if you want to have a sheet metal tube.

Here is one of my tutorials to unfold a tube:

Hello, otherwise when you made your hit, you must have had a dialog box and you must have created a 'group'. You select a tube in each group as its Solidworls differentiates them.

Otherwise you can take the option of @Ac cobra! :)

Go to your list of welded parts, select the 3 bodies and then right click "combine"

You will only have one body.

Then if you want to unfold it, you have to redraw it in a swept folded sheet metal

Hello

there is the option "Merge bodies created with arc segments" and "Merge bodies with a bevel miter cut" which allow you to assemble mechanically welded bodies.

These options are available in the mechanically welded element edition.

The advantage is that it combines the length to obtain the total curved length.

PS: It's the same as Bart's solution, without the addition of a combiner function

Kind regards.

The answers of Bart & Yves T suit me perfectly.

Thank you very much for your answers and for your responsiveness.

Thank you Yves,  I never think about this option!

You're welcome

It's very practical and it reduces the time it takes to rebuild large welded assemblies.

In addition, it depends on  each group, which is very practical when you make cross car chassis or rally car racks.
